My 4-year-old attended sight word class with Ms. Teri and phonics class with Mrs. Raven. Both of them are great, experienced, know how to teach, and the interaction was great. What Mrs. Raven brought to the class is not just phonics learning experience, but also a lot of fun as in her class, the kids would use play dough, scissors, singing songs to learn and sometimes they even learn through doing some "gym activities". From the learning materials she sent out weekly, you can tell she was well prepared and organized. My little one loves to attend Mrs. Raven's class and he is looking forward to it on every class date. Mrs. Raven has a very good voice as she can deliver multiple range of voices in pretend play with various animals to interact with children. Her singing adds a nice touch during class which can have the class stand up to dance and sing along. She clearly has a lot of experience in teaching children as she is able to communicate very well with children and knows how to get their attention. She also shows a lot of enthusiasm from the beginning to the end of class. Throughout the phonics class there were changes in structure of the class in an effort to add more complexity and enrich the children’s experience. Although each change wasn’t necessarily perfect she was very open to parent suggestion and since then the classes have been much better accommodating to all the children, which have varying ages. My 4-year-old attended sight word class with Ms. Teri and phonics class with Mrs. Raven. Both of them are great, experienced, know how to teach, and the interaction was great. What Mrs. Raven brought to the class is not just phonics learning experience, but also a lot of fun as in her class, the kids would use play dough, scissors, singing songs to learn and sometimes they even learn through doing some "gym activities". From the learning materials she sent out weekly, you can tell she was well prepared and organized.
