Embark on a creative journey in our engaging “Become a Master of Drawing & Sketching” ongoing art class, специально designed for young artists aged 8 to 12! This in-person class offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop essential drawing skills at a comfortable and flexible pace. Each week, we delve into different drawing subjects and techniques, ensuring a continuous stream of new and exciting artistic challenges.

Our experienced instructor will guide students through step-by-step demonstrations, projected live for easy follow-along. You’ll learn about the fundamental tools of the trade, including various types of pencils, papers, and erasers, and how to utilize your arm movements for creating different shapes. We’ll explore the nuances of line weight and strokes, crucial for adding depth and expression to your drawings.

As the weeks progress, you’ll unlock the secrets of lighting and shadows, understand the principles of perspective and foreshortening, and apply these concepts to a diverse range of subjects. From the intricacies of eyes and mouths to the proportions of faces and figures, the textures of clothing, the stillness of life, the structure of buildings, and the beauty of animals – each lesson provides specific techniques tailored to a new subject.

Our ongoing format means you can join at any time and attend as many classes as you like. There’s no fixed start or stop date! The flexible schedule accommodates different learning speeds, and our instructor is attentive to individual student needs, providing personalized feedback and suggestions to help you improve your artistic skills.

Weekly Subject Cycles:

• Weeks 1-2: Eyes – Construction lines, Shading, Line weight, Values, Lighting, Highlights, and Reflected light
• Week 3: Nose – Using values to create shape and 3D
• Weeks 4-5: Lips and smiles – Use of values to create shape and depth
• Weeks 6-7: The head and proportions – Dividing the face into sections, construction lines
• Weeks 8-9: Profile head (girl then boy) – Dividing the side view into sections, customizing the shape
• Weeks 10-11: Full body proportions – Dividing the full body onto sections and measuring features
• Week 12: Hands – Using shapes, construction lines, and proportions to draw
• Week 13: Animal – Use of values to create depth
• Weeks 14-15: Face 3/4 view – Hatching as a shading technique (girl then boy)
• Week 16: Foreshortening full-body (Bruce Lee pose)
• Week 17: Skating boy using the grid system
